Lastly, in our fight to decrease the incidence of
Tuberculosis cases in the community, the team continued their active case
finding with the help of the TB Patrollers, and were able to identify 14 TB
presumptive cases. These individuals submitted themselves for DSSM, Nine tested
negative for PTB and were prescribed with antibiotics. One individual resulted
positive for AFB on DSSM and has started taking anti-TB medication. He is
currently on maintenance phase.
To
further ensure that the cases of TB in the community won’t increase, TB
patrollers continue to conduct their house-to-house health teaching on TB.
Additionally, a health information corner and bulletin board was installed at
the center of the barangay. This bulletin board will contain posters and other
infographics on health issues and methods to for a healthier community
lifestyle.
The team will continue its active case
finding and health teaching in the community until disengagement. Ultimately,
repetitive actions will become a norm and will improve the residents’
health-seeking behaviors.
The
team would like to thank the community of Goin, the officials of the LGU of
Liloy, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University – School of Medicine, everybody who
supported them throughout the year 2016. From hospital clerkship to community
clerkship, we have received a tremendous amount of love and support for our
advocacy.
We
have had a very challenging and also fulfilling year. For this, we thank each
and every one of you, and we pray and hope for double the blessings to be
showered upon everybody who has been part of our journey.
